Has Your Child’s Eye Coordination Been Checked?

August 24, 2021

Good eye coordination means that each eye works well with the other. Though each eye sees an image that slightly differs from the other, they play as a team. Your brain combines the two images and make them into a three-dimensional view. Weak eye coordination is due to inadequate vision growth or eye muscle control that developed inadequately.

At the office of Clear Eye Care, our professional team, using their extensive knowledge of the optical system and the complexities of how eyes function, is superbly equipped to diagnose and treat a wide range of vision issues. Our team is made up of friendly, highly trained specialists who are eager to help you feel comfortable and relaxed while receiving the very best in care. We will carefully evaluate your case and answer any of your questions.

Indications that a pair of eyes are poorly coordinated include headaches, vertigo, grumpiness, double vision, eye fatigue, and problems reading and concentrating. A child with poor eye synchronization has a tendency to not perform well in sports, lose his place while reading, tire easily, cover one eye, evade undertakings that require up-close work, get headaches and have trouble concentrating.

Unfortunately, poor eye coordination can be hard to identify. The American Optometric Association advises that children get a full eye exams when they’re 6 months old and again at 3. A doctor of optometry will include an evaluation of their eye synchronization. The optometrist can treat poor coordination with eyeglasses and/or vision therapy. Synchronization can improve when farsightedness (hyperopia) and nearsightedness (myopia) are corrected. Occasionally, surgery may be needed.

We at Clear Eye Care are committed to the eye health of each of our patients. Our reputation for excellence in optometry is based on providing compassionate care with an unparalleled level of skill to give our patients the very best treatment results. We’ve earned the trust of all of our clients and look forward to earning yours.
